What are the pros and cons of a dental bridge?
There are many benefits that dental bridges offer. However, they are not for everyone and there are some downsides as well.
Benefits of Dental Bridges:
- Natural appearing replacement tooth option
- Restores natural speech and chewing function where missing teeth can make it difficult to eat or speak properly
- Can be less expensive or invasive than other replacement teeth options.
Drawbacks of Dental Bridges:
- Decay or trauma in the surrounding teeth can compromise a dental bridge.
- Bridges can cause surrounding teeth to break if they are too weak to support the bridge.
- The gums below the bridge can get inflamed and even infected if the bridge and gums are not properly cleaned and maintained
